Protes kerana Projek Kampung PPMS Sg Siput gagal dan membawa kemiskinan

Pada 24hb Ogos 2009 yang lalu, satu protes diketuai oleh Ahli Parlimen Sg Siput, Dr Jeyaklumar telah diadakan di hadapan Pejabat Menteri Besar Perak. Penduduk sebuah kampung pedalaman di Sg Siput yang dikenali sebagai Kg PPMS (Program Pembangunan Masyarakat Setempat) telah menuntut agar nasib mereka dibela oleh pihak berkuasa kerana menjadi mangsa satu projek yang gagal.

Hardcore poor families deceived

About 100 hardcore poor families living around Sungai Siput, who were supposed to have been relocated under BN’s economic improvement programme, have been left high and dry for the past three years.

In 2006, the then BN Menteri Besar Mohammad Tajol Rosli Mohd Ghazali selected about 100 hard-core families living around Sungai Siput and relocated them to Kampung PPMS about 20 kms from the town, promising them free houses and about 10 acres of land for each family to improve their economic standing through agricultural or other activities.

PSM Seremban Launches Service Centre

After years of operating out of mamak stalls and private residences, PSM Seremban has finally found a permanent “home”. Our “home” is of course our new service center located at 1273, Tingkat 2, Jalan Rasah above the Curry Leaf Restaurant. The service center is officially launched on the 9th August 2009.

PSM launches its first People’s Struggle book series

Kuasa Rakyat Menang di Kg Chekkadi, the first book in the PSM’s People’s Struggle Series, was launched on Sunday, 16/8/09, on the land (RPT Sri Desa Rishah) won by the urban pioneers of Kg Chekkadi. Apart from Kg Chekkadi folk, the book launch was also attended by other villagers as well as members and leaders of several PSM branches. Saras, the National Deputy Chairperson, and Dr Kumar, Sg Siput Member of Parliament, were also present.

Provision of Health Care to the Population: The Changing Landscape

When we survey how health care has been provided to the people over the past 65 years, we can see that there have been 2 markedly different approaches. The earlier approach which some term “welfarist” moulded the development of health care provision in many countries all over the world for the first 30 years after WW II ie from 1946 till about 1975. After that time, a more market oriented approach gradually increased its dominance throughout the world.

Analisa cubaan perobohan Kg Buah Pala pada 13 Ogos 2009

Awal pagi hari ini di Kampung Buah Pala, Bukit Gelugor, Pulau Pinang, nampaknya segar dan sunyi seperti hari-hari biasa tetapi diselubungi oleh suasana yang tidak luar biasa. Pada malam sebelum ini telah terdapat khabar angin pihak pemaju akan masuk ke kampung untuk merobohkan rumah-rumah, sedangkan belum adanya satu penyelesaian yang baik dan dipersetujui oleh para penduduk.

People Power Defeats Developer – Eviction of Kampung Buah Pala fails

Pulau Pinang, 13 August 2009

Today was the moment of truth for Kampung Buah Pala villagers. It was the third time that their homes face demolition. But it was the first time that the local villagers outnumbered the outsiders who were the majority during the previous attempt on 4th. August. Today when the police, the developer and the bailiff came, the villagers did not have the luxury of State Assemblymen or MPs, the State Government representative and even lawyers. Only a handful of PSM members and Hindraf supporters were there with the villagers.
