The heavy downpour did not deter Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) in opening another branch office in Bercham. This is the second office to be opened in recent months as another office was opened recently in Chemor.

While it was said that some political parties have closed down some service centers recently because of the political turmoil in Perak, yet PSM went on to open its service centre there.

PSM has a long history of struggle in this area where many of the community struggle led by PSM and Alaigal in these areas had borne many victories. Among the struggles which PSM involved here is the Kampung Chepor Urban Settlers struggle, Gung Lang farmers, the Kampung Tawas farmers issue, Taman Hock Aunn as well as many workers related struggles in the Tasek Industrial area.

Party leaders, Chairperson Dr. Nasir Hashim, Deputy Chairperson M. Saraswathy, Secretary General S.Arutchelvan and National Treasurer A.Sivarajan also attended the event. Local leaders’ as well party supporters also attended the event which was marred by heavy downpour preventing many others from coming.

The event started with the Internationale being sung and followed by a series of speeces. Dr. Jeyakumar described how this office was the start of many activities which he and others have participated. It has its historical significant, as well as it is well placed to further develop and expand PSM in Perak.
